1. Your files and documents
Every PDF tool on this site runs entirely inside your web browser using JavaScript and WebAssembly. When you select a file:
- It is read into your browser's memory using the standard File API — the same mechanism any website uses to let you "choose a file."
- All processing (merging, splitting, compressing, signing, OCR, etc.) happens locally, on your device's own processor.
- The finished file is written back to your device via a direct download — it is generated locally, not fetched from a server.
- At no point is the content of your file transmitted to offlinepdf.com's servers, or to any third party, as part of using a tool.
You do not need to take our word for this. Open your browser's developer tools (Network tab) while using any tool and process a file — you will not see any outgoing request containing your file's data.
Because your file is never uploaded, we have no copy of it, no ability to recover it if you lose it, and no log of what it contained. If you close the tab before downloading your result, the work is simply gone — there's no server-side backup to restore it from.
2. Technical data collected when you visit
Like almost any website, basic technical information is generated automatically when your browser requests a page — for example, general request metadata (IP address, browser type, the page requested, and timestamp), which may be recorded temporarily by hosting or content-delivery infrastructure for security and reliability purposes (such as detecting abuse or diagnosing outages). This is standard web server behavior, not something specific to how OfflinePDF's tools work, and it never includes the contents of any file you process.
3. Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns — for example, which tool pages are most used and which pages need improvement. Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to collect information such as your approximate location (typically city/region level, derived from IP address), device and browser type, pages visited, and how you arrived at the site. This data is processed by Google in aggregate and is not linked to the content of any file you process, since file content never reaches our servers or Google's in the first place.
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by using your browser's built-in tracking protection or a content-blocking extension. For more detail on what Google collects and how it's used, see Google's Privacy Policy.
4. Cookies and local storage
Beyond the analytics cookies described above, OfflinePDF does not use cookies for cross-site tracking of its own. Some tools may use your browser's local storage (not cookies) purely to remember your preferences on this device — for example, a light/dark theme choice — which never leaves your browser and is never sent to any server.
5. Third-party resources loaded by this site
To keep the site fast and functional, a small number of resources may be loaded from third parties:
- Fonts: the fonts used on this site are self-hosted on our own domain rather than loaded from Google Fonts or any other third-party font provider, so no font-related request ever leaves this site's own servers.
- Icons: the site uses no icon font or third-party icon service; icons are inline SVG.
- Processing libraries: the PDF engines (such as PDF.js and pdf-lib) are loaded once per session, ideally self-hosted from our own domain rather than a third-party CDN, specifically to avoid an unnecessary third-party request path.
- Analytics: Google Analytics, as described above.
6. Advertising and affiliate links
OfflinePDF is free to use, and advertising may be used to help cover hosting and development costs. This section describes both current and possible future practices so it stays accurate as the site evolves:
- Display advertising: this site may show ads served by Google (such as Google AdSense) or other third-party ad networks. These networks may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. You can learn more about Google's advertising practices and manage your ad personalization settings at Google Ads Settings, and opt out of interest-based advertising more broadly via the Digital Advertising Alliance.
- Affiliate links: some links on this site (for example, in guide articles recommending other software or services) may be affiliate links, meaning we may earn a commission if you make a purchase after clicking them, at no extra cost to you. Where used, affiliate links will be disclosed on the page they appear on.
- No file-related targeting: regardless of which ad or affiliate arrangements are in place, none of them have access to the contents of any file you process with our tools, since that content never reaches our servers.
7. Children's privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13 (or the relevant age of digital consent in your region), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because file processing happens locally, there is inherently no file data collected from any user, regardless of age.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (EEA/UK) or CCPA/CPRA (California) regarding personal data. Because OfflinePDF does not collect or store the content of your files, the personal data held about any individual visitor is typically limited to the analytics and advertising data described above. If you have questions about what, if anything, is held, use the contact details below.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what data is collected — for example, when advertising is enabled — the "last updated" date at the top of this page will change, and material changes will be summarized here rather than silently edited.
10. Contact
Privacy questions can be sent via the contact page. See also our Terms of Service and how the tools technically work.
